Dayna Cocks: Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
I enjoy working collaboratively with children, adults and families, supporting them towards their therapeutic goals. I have a background in public mental health settings and have worked with people across the lifespan; helping individuals navigate a wide range of mental health challenges.
I have experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and enjoy working with individuals who are part of the LGBTQIA community. My practice is trauma informed and neurodiversity affirming.
By understanding the impact of past experiences on current functioning, I create a safe and supportive environment in which clients can explore their inner thoughts and heal from their difficulties. I am passionate about creating space where individuals feel understood and seen, whether this be with immediate difficulties or better understanding their emotions and past.
I use a varied approach, drawing from different therapeutic modalities such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and the Circle of Security framework.
My areas of interest include:
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Suicidal ideation
• Attachment
• Parenting support
• Emotion regulation
• Borderline personality disorder
• Identity and self esteem
• Grief and Loss
• Childhood trauma
• Neurodiversity
