Rosie Parkhurst: Registered Psychologist
I am a registered psychologist with experience helping people across the lifespan, from adolescence through to later life. I have a gentle, friendly, and supportive style, and love building a strong relationship with clients to address a variety of challenges and conditions. I particularly value the opportunity to work with young people as they grapple with their studies, careers, and relationships, and negotiate their emerging adult identities.
Like most psychologists, I use an integrated approach of multiple evidence-based methodologies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Emotion Focussed Therapy.
I am experienced across a range of challenges and conditions, including the following areas:
- Mood disorders, including Major Depression and mood cycling
- Anxiety disorders, including GAD, Social Anxiety, and panic attacks
- PTSD – using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE)
- Adult processing of child sexual abuse
- Body image and self-worth challenges
- Disordered eating
- ADHD and neurodiversity more broadly
- Grief and loss, including traumatic bereavement
- Loneliness and challenges with dating and relationships
- Workplace challenges, including personality conflicts, bullying, and burnout. I also have significant experience supporting injured workers within the South Australian Return-to-Work system, including both physical and psychological injuries.
- Cognitive Assessments
Relationship Counselling: I have experience supporting couples of any gender to collaboratively address challenges, improve communication, and “re-connect”. I also support couples who may need assistance separating gracefully. My approach is informed by the principles of the Gottman methodology and Emotionally Focussed Therapy.
