Henry Thiele-Swift: Registered Psychologist
I’m a registered psychologist who works collaboratively with clients to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and support meaningful, lasting change. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or noticing the same patterns repeating, I offer a supportive and down-to-earth space to ease into the often daunting process of starting therapy and work towards living a life guided by what matters most to you.
I see therapy as a process of empowerment, where clients are supported to make their own informed decisions. In this way, I view the client as an active co-therapist in the work. My role is to help you develop insight, confidence, and practical skills so you can navigate challenges independently and carry these tools with you well beyond the therapy room.
I take an integrative and flexible approach to therapy, tailoring treatment to the individual rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model. My work is grounded primarily in evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), and is complemented by strategies drawn from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. This approach allows therapy to be both structured and practical, while also addressing deeper patterns, emotional regulation, values, and motivation for change.
Alongside therapeutic work, I provide psychological and cognitive assessments across the lifespan. This includes comprehensive assessments to support individuals seeking greater understanding around neurodivergence, such as Autism and ADHD, as well as intellectual functioning and learning difficulties.
My areas of interest and experience across the lifespan include:
- Anxiety-related difficulties, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic, and obsessive–compulsive presentations
- Mood-related concerns, such as depression, low mood, and emotional burnout
- Neurodivergence, including Autism and ADHD, as well as associated emotional, social, and executive functioning challenges
- Trauma-related presentations, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and developmental trauma
- Emotion regulation and stress management, supporting individuals to better understand and manage intense or overwhelming emotions
- Substance use and related difficulties, including problematic patterns of use and co-occurring mental health concerns
- Identity, self-esteem, and sense of self, including issues related to confidence, values, and self-concept
- Adjustment difficulties and life transitions, such as relationship changes, study or work stress, health changes, and major life events
- Grief and loss, including bereavement and other forms of significant loss
- Intellectual disability and learning difficulties, including specific learning disorders such as dyslexia
- Personality disorders and personality-related difficulties, including difficulties with emotion regulation, relationships, and sense of self
