Dr Jacqueline Peters- Counsellor and Psychotherapist

I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist registered with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and I am a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

I have a particular interest in working with children, adolescents and parents, and I also enjoy working with adults across the life span, who have experienced a diverse range of concerns including, but not limited to:

  • anxiety
  • emotion regulation
  • sleep deprivation
  • parenting
  • abuse
  • trauma
  • grief and loss
  • coping
  • self-esteem difficulties

I have a collaborative client-centered therapeutic approach that is warm, empathic, accepting and non-judgmental.  I feel the relationship between client and therapist is particularly important for positive treatment outcomes.

The approaches I use are primarily evidence-based, informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Schema Therapy techniques, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Narrative Therapy.

In addition to a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy degree, I have a PhD that looked at style of parenting and teaching young children healthy habits. My research on parenting, adolescent sleep deprivation, child diet and new mums has been published in several international peer reviewed journals.
