Psychologist: Dr Ben McLean

I am a Registered Psychologist and hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology.  I have worked in people-oriented roles for the last 17 years, and love seeing people do well.

I really enjoy working with children, and have experience working with children on a range of challenges including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • selective mutism
  • anxiety
  • adjustment issues, for example following parents’ separation
  • self-concept and esteem
  • complicated grief
  • and resilience

I am also passionate about working with adults. My experience working with adults covers numerous issues including:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • sleep problems
  • obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • social anxiety
  • adult survivor of childhood sexual abuse
  • borderline personality disorder
  • psychosis
  • physical trauma

I primarily use the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach to treatment, along with other techniques according to the client’s needs and wishes such as motivational interviewing, cognitive processing therapy, graded exposure therapy, and mindfulness.
